Gesha, sometimes referred to as geisha, is a variety of the Arabica bean.

The variety originally came from the village "Gesha" southwest of Ethiopia, where it was later exported to Panama via Costa Rica. There the variety received astronomical prices when it was rated as outstanding in certain competitions. The reason for this is the low harvest and its clear, sweet and floral aromas like no other variety. Due to the high demand, it is now grown in Colombia. The Gesha variety cannot grow in normal lower bays and is therefore always difficult to grow or harvest. It needs its own microclimate where it is undisturbed by pests. The cherry can only ripen properly from approx. 1900 meters. The Gesha was mainly exported to the USA, Australia, England, Saudi Arabia and especially Japan and China. In Germany it is now available with us for the first time as a limited product and is even roasted in Munich.

Originally discovered in Minas Gerais, Brazil, as a natural mutation of the bourbon variety, it is also known as "dwarf bourbon".The plant is smaller and has more branches than "bourbon". As a result, the branch points are very close together. It is precisely this property that gives it a higher level of productivity, since more beans can be produced in the same space and the trees can grow closer together. It was first introduced in Colombia in the 1950s and shortly afterwards widely accepted by coffee farmers. Approximately half of the total trees grown in Colombia come from this variety. The Caturra is known for being supple and easy to drink. Sweet, chocolatey aromas are very pronounced, with some fruity notes that can affect caramel, apple and red fruits like berries. The Caturra flavors are usually a bit citrusy, sometimes fruity, and have a hint of spice.Preparation recommendation for filter coffee ratio 1:16

Our espresso blend, like our Gesha and Caturra, is straight from the Colombian farm "La Perla y La Esperanza".The three varieties: Castillo, Costa Rica and Caturra combine to create a spirited taste experience. This blend consists of 100% Arabica beans, which reveal aromas such as hazelnut, caramel and white chocolate. The most common espressos usually taste bitter and smoky, which means that consumers create an artificial sweetness by adding sugar.Sugar and milk are not necessary for our coffees. The sweet and fruity aromas are an appearance of nature and a result of a long selection process. The volcanic soils on which it grows provide the beans with minerals and therefore better results in terms of quality.
